Everyone loves to talk about culture in the workplace, but what do we really mean when we talk about culture? And no, to make it clear from the beginning, culture is not fruit in the office, pizza on Fridays, or impossible slides that end up in a ball pool... culture in the tech sector and in other sectors is much more than that.
We understand «culture» as the set of values, beliefs, practices and behaviors that define how we work, interact and grow together as a team. It is a fundamental element that shapes our group (“corporate”) identity and guides all our daily actions.
Building a future based on transparency, horizontality, communication and growth.
In all companies, culture is a determining factor between a team's success and failure, but if in one sector it can be particularly appreciated, it is in the Tech sector.
At Secture, We firmly believe that one of the keys to sustainable growth and continuous innovation lies in a strong organizational culture. There are many factors that affect culture, but in this post, we would like to talk mainly about 5 pillars that we consider fundamental.

The 5 pillars of the tech sector culture at Secture:
1. Transparency: the basis of trust.
Transparency is essential to build a relationship of trust among all team members. This trust translates into greater collaboration and open communication.
Transparency provides context and therefore helps to understand why decisions are made and executed, which in turn helps to empower the entire team and encourage informed and participatory decision making. This not only creates a positive work environment, but also allows all team members to feel that they are valued and integral to Secture's success.
An example of this is our “All hands”. Every Friday, we meet remotely to share the progress of the team and projects. We also take the opportunity to welcome new recruits, share the progress of our kudos and, as a trademark of the house, share our ranking of “culture in pieces”.”, as well as recommendations of plans for the weekend.
2. Horizontality: eliminating unnecessary barriers.
An integral part of our culture is horizontality. Of course, at Secture there are roles with assigned expectations and responsibilities based on those roles, but fostering a culture of horizontality helps us eliminate unnecessary hierarchies while promoting open and fluid communication and collaboration, regardless of the “rank” or “role” of the colleagues interacting with each other.
This provides us with an environment where we can freely contribute ideas, solutions or proposals for improvement.
From an operational point of view, this horizontality facilitates greater agility in decision-making, which in turn allows teams to work more effectively and efficiently.
Finally, without ignoring the “cultural” point of view, in horizontal work structures, we feel more motivated and committed, thus avoiding situations of alienation/disalignment or disconnection with the team.

3. Good communication: key to team success.
Good communication is another fundamental pillar of our culture. We understand that clear and open communication is essential to Secture's success. In fact, good communication is possibly the main agent for a consolidated and healthy culture.
Therefore, at Secture we invest a lot of time and effort in different dynamics, events and communications. It is a crucial axis that impacts all levels, whether operational, organizational or cultural. It provides context and helps to understand the strategy, objectives and why the team's actions.
These communications occur simultaneously, at different levels and through different channels, but, to give some practical examples, at Secture we talk about: daylies, random coffees, trainings, all hands, 1:1“s, events and countless discord channels... ;).
In short, taking care of your company's communication is taking care of your culture.
4. Full remote: the backbone of family reconciliation.
At Secture, we recognize the importance of work-life balance. Above all other benefits, we strongly believe in having a “full remote” policy.
We are not going to enumerate the endless list of benefits of working full remote, those who have been lucky enough to do so, know it well. The fact that we all work remotely does not mean that we do not see each other at events, meetings, dynamics and we even have a physical office in case someone works more comfortably from there.
For us, it is one of the pillars that affect our culture, how we work, how we strive to have a good agile work methodology and, as we mentioned before, to promote first-class communication at all levels.
We understand that the well-being of our colleagues is crucial to their productivity and job satisfaction. Therefore, we provide flexibility in work schedules and foster an environment where work-life balance is a priority.
5. Professional development: room to grow.
Finally, another of the challenges and projects we are currently working on is to provide the team with the space and resources necessary to grow and develop professionally.
We try to work on a continuous training program, we encourage people to share knowledge with the rest of the team, whether it's Thursday trainings, talks at events or posts on our blog.
This investment in personal development not only benefits individuals on a personal level and Secture, but we also try to share knowledge and best practices with the tech community.

Conclusion
At Secture, organizational culture is not just a collection of values, but a guide that aligns all our actions and decisions. There are many other factors that influence culture, but these pillars we are talking about: transparency, horizontality, good communication, family reconciliation and space to grow and develop, are the basis of who we are and what we want to be.
